Dear all,

Next Thursday, Nick Treanor (University of Edinburgh) is giving a talk
at CambERG. The talk will be 3-4.15 in the Graduate Common Room. Title

All the best,

Title: The Truth Goal

Abstract: The idea that truth is the proper work of the intellect is
central to epistemology and to epistemic normativity. But the standard
way of understanding this -- believe p if and only if p -- is deeply
flawed. A consequence of this is that the place of truth in epistemology
has been widely misunderstood. In this talk I explore how the truth goal
is standardly understood, argue that this understanding of it is
mistaken, and propose a better model. I also briefly sketch some of the
broader implications for epistemology.
