Dear all, Next Thursday, Nick Treanor (University of Edinburgh) is giving a talk at CambERG. The talk will be 3-4.15 in the Graduate Common Room. Title and abstract are below. Everyone welcome.
All the best, Paulina Title: The Truth Goal Abstract: The idea that truth is the proper work of the intellect is central to epistemology and to epistemic normativity. But the standard way of understanding this -- believe p if and only if p -- is deeply flawed. A consequence of this is that the place of truth in epistemology has been widely misunderstood. In this talk I explore how the truth goal is standardly understood, argue that this understanding of it is mistaken, and propose a better model. I also briefly sketch some of the broader implications for epistemology. _____________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from the CamPhilEvents mailing list, or change your membership options, please visit the list information page: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEvents List archive: http://bit.ly/CamPhilEventsArchive Please note that CamPhilEvents doesn't accept email attachments.
