We are starting a relaxed, general interest philosophy of language
reading group, taking place on Wednesdays between 1 and 2pm at the
Philosophy Faculty. No background in philosophy of language is required,
and undergraduates are welcome. Each week we’ll discuss one interesting
paper based on a topic in philosophy of language.

Our first meeting will be on Wednesday 24th January, Week 1, 1-2pm, in
the Philosophy Board Room (Raised Faculty Building). We will discuss “A
puzzle about demonstratives and semantic competence” by Jeff Speaks. You
can access it here:
https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs11098-016-0704-5 . Please
try to take a look at the paper in advance, and come prepared with a
possible question about it for the group to discuss.

Please email [email protected] if you have any questions or suggested
readings for future weeks (which are most welcome!)

Best wishes,

Lucy
