Robert:

I know of some teenagers on the Old Time Victrola Music Message Board (
http://www.besmark.com/wwwboard/wwwboard.html ), but it seems like the
people in this hobby tend to be mid-40s-ish men (like me). I don't quite
know why. I was 15 (back in '74) when I got my first Edison cylinder
phonograph, but I began listening to pre-1940s disk recordings on my
electric record player a few years before that.

"... I noticed in a few posts that many people (of the pre-playstation
generation?) started on the hobby fairly young. I likewise was about 11 or
12 when I started chasing wind up machines and old records. However in the
last 15 years or so I definitely have not seen anyone under 25 competing on
the flea markets for anything collectible in the music category? I was
wondering if this is a generally noticed phenomenon..."
