Hello Keith,

I also looked again at my V78J Tan Cover "The 70th Anniversary Of The
Orthophonic" Journal. I have been wanting information on my Phon-ola. We also
have
another baby phonograph, not all there. It is a Nifty-Nirona, painted White,
metal cabinet, in bad shape.

I paid $100.00 for the Phon-ola, with a missing reproducer. We had it
restored, years ago, by a phono dealer, which added to the final cost. The
Nifty-Nirona cost less than $100.00, but it was in much worse condition. Hubby
Bill
bought this one, years ago.

If you get a chance to go back to the antique shop and can get a Phono name
from it, this may be a clue to the value.

To me,,, $600.00 sounds WAY to high,,, too!
And,, in not good condition, may add problems finding parts to get the phono
'restored'.

Hello,
I'm not sure who asked the original question here but I'm going to try to help
just the same. I have a small collection of children's machines and other
small phonographs. They go nice with my wife's antique dolls, and are
something we can agree on when it comes to buying. I have a machine like you
have described it is marked Baby Cabinet on the front just below the lid. The
front is metal except for the legs, and the piece below the front of the lid.
It was made by Garford Manufacturing, Elyria, OH. It is 17.25" tall 8.75" wide
and 9.75" deep. For that one we paid $450.00. I also have a larger mini
upright that has no manufacturer markings but has an original decal of running
children on the door. It is 22.5 High 11.75 Wide 13.00" Deep. That one we
gave 500.00 for. Were they worth that? Well I guess that depends on whether
or not you like that sort of thing. To me and Nancy they were worth that. We
like them, and are keeping them. I hope that this helps.
Very best regards,
Fred Williams

Hello phononuts! I'm in phono heaven...Yesterday I bought a flat top
Pooley VTLA! I work for an electric utility and one of the meter readers
spotted it at a local estate sale. It came with most of the boxes (full of
Opera records...give me a call Dan) and an extra reproducer. The finish is
original and the serial number is 1414. Jerry Blais (Albany, Oregon)
