But you need to weed out the common stuff. Kurt and other dealers are not
going to waste there time gooing through unsorted records and common 78s. Don't
expect anyone to take a consignent where the records are going to bring less
than $5.00 or probably $15.00 each.

The hardest problem we collectors have is that we buy and keep common records
because we like them. But forget to realize that there is little value and it
is not cost efficient to sell them.

Last year I took hundreds of 78s to the Delaware show. Started at $2.00 each
for first 2 hours, then $1.00 for next two hours, then 50 cents for rest of
show. I sold maybe 10% (and they were in good condition.

The remainder went out on my curb in open boxes for someone to take. They
did. The records got a new home, I got space. I know folks around the country
would have liked them but packing is time consuming and they were not going to
pay an hourly rate plus postage to get them. I guess that's why stamps and
coins
are easier to collect. MUCH lighter and less fragile! <g>

Just one man's opinion!

Hello and Happy Holidays to all!!!

Santa already dropped off his present here. I was able to get a VV 8-9
recently for $240. A far cry from the $1,500 that one just brought on Ebay.
It does need a little touch up on the finish thogh. The question I have for
the group is: Does anyone know the names of the two green stain colors on the
case? There are a number of spots that the colors need to be touched up and I
want to get a good match.

Thanks in advance for any replies.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a Happy Phono find!!

If you look at the bids history of that 8-9 on EBAY... it was basically
inflated by one person who bid about 30 times. He is also from Taiwan so
most likely will not end up buying it.

$240 is a great deal, I have been looking for an 8-9.
