It's quite obvious that many appraisers on the Road Show do some quick
research behind the curtain, memorize their spiel, and then come appear on
camera as if they just did their homework 5 minutes ago - that is, they
better get it out quick before they forget it.  When they do that act, it
virtually never comes out genuine.  Contrast that with the spontaneity of a
Leigh Keno, David Rago, or Wendall Garrett, who can captivate you with their
enthusiasm and absolute command of their subject.  I actually enjoy about
one-third of the appraisals on the show.  The other two-thirds - ugh! The
original British Road show is a completely different story.  By and large,
their appraisers up and down the board are world class.  The US show is a
rather disingenuous knock-off.  I say bring back "Personal FX."
