I recently picked up a maroon gem with a two piece fireside horn. The horn appears to be all original, but I have some questions regarding the paint. The cone has the stamped patent date in the metal, but it does not have the decal the contains all the patent dates. It looks like it never had the decal, although the original fireside decal on the horn is original and intact with some fading. Does anyone know if the patent date decal came on all Fireside horn cones?
I also compare the paint between this horn and another Fireside horn I have in my collection. The paint on both these horns is slightly different. I assume that his was normal and that some paint did vary depending on how the paint was mixed? Also, with the horn I recently picked up there is a mix of translucent red/ maroon and yellow paint on the part that screws both the horn and the cone together. I thought this part of the horn was usually yellow. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks! Rick
