I disagree with Randy. I don't think anyone can honestly say all of one are
good and all of another are bad. I consider a decent mechanic worth 100
times a good doctor -- doctors have systems in place to hold them
accountable, so the bad ones usually end up putting themselves out of
business. If a mechanic says your transmission needs work when it doesn't,
but replaces it with a perfectly working new transmission and discards the
old one, whose to say if he was lying? Meanwhile, I know for a fact that
dealers charge $450 for a factory radio/cd player that you can find on eBay
for $20, so I'll certainly never go to a dealer for my repairs.

In all things, research is necessary. And that's one of the things that
makes this group so amazing, the sheer voluminous amount of research on
offer for the asking.

Best to all,
Robert
