Hi Rene
MAPS has given me permission to use any back article in a chapter newsleter,
but I wanted to ask your permission to use this in the February issue of the
GSPS Record. This is absolutely fascinating, and I think it is a great tool to
help keep collectors from being taken in. How about it?
Thanks
John

My take on this one is that it's fake. The "E" is written in a style he used
in the late 80s and early 90s, but in that era the umbrella tended to be
nearly straight, not deeply rounded and curved. That was his style in later
years after he had gone to a more flat-bottomed "E". The writing is not on a
straight line, which is very uncharacteristic, and most notably there's a
period
after the "A", which he never did. The "s" in Edison is also more slanted
than typical. I've seen worse forgeries, but this has enough questionable
points
that I'd be very inclined to stay away.....
