There is another fellow on eBay that sells machines in parts right here in the
US...and his prices are very high. I was tempted to buy an original Fireside
gear cover with nice original striping to replace the one I have with
decals..but he wanted $55 for it. I couldn't rationalize it.
I feel that dissecting a perfectly good, working machine like a science class
frog is an abomination of nature tho!

I tend to agree with you on this. However, I am not willing to spend my money
to buy all the parts and put them back together again for the sake of a happy
family. On the other hand, many times, one phonograph can yield enough parts to
transplant into many machines that might otherwise be discarded. There are
probably other ways to look at this, too.

Hi

Here is a trend that I find not so good - decompiling a phonograph into
pieces
and then selling it in pieces. OK, for the seller it may lead to profit
maximization,
but as a purist, I cannot help having the feeling its somehow not right to
separate
a machine thats been together for 90 years?

Just wondering if there's any feeling on this
