In December I sold a Harmony model D on Ebay to a buyer in France.(Auction 2290834912) I received payment via BidPay Money order with and the buyer name Claude Sergant and an address in Pas-de-Calis, France. This was also the name on all email correspondence, including the last one. The Phonograph was shipped 12/15/04 in 2 parcels to the address provided with the payment. On 1/14/05 I received an email from the buyer stating:
hello i don't received the phonograph? thanks I then try to communicate with him and get very cryptic answers similar to the one above. I then have my daughter send him correspondence in french asking him to check with customs or the post. With no better response....he responds in cryptic english. However, In this correspondence I give the address it was shipped to. The latest response is: i think that package come back to you because i have not change address of shipping my address is mr breem ruddy 41 rue du chemin vert 62220 carvin france thanks to return me the phonograh thanks One of the 2 parcels has been returned to me postage due. I have put a tracer on the other one (the horn). Since this guy changed names and address......what is my responsibility???? I a concerned that there is Identity theft although it seems convoluted...as he is the buyer not the seller????? I don't want to cheat anyone, but if I send it to this guy is it really the winning bidder??? if I refund the purchase price to whom? If the original address is no good where do I send it? Does anyone out there have any Ideas???? By the way, his ebay name is listed as No Longer a Registered User. I did send this request to Ebay safe harbor. We will see what they say, but with their privacy policy, who knows what I will get. Gregg Cline
