Hi List,
This is my first post to this list, as I have only recently renewed my
interest in old phonographs. I guess I am letting on how long ago I was
active, when I say that the Edison in the ebay ad looks like the sort of
machine that I wouldn't even have taken as a present in my collecting
days! And the ad remined me of some I've seen of late from certain
parties in Hong Kong purporting to sell fabulous antiques that came from
the apartment of a fabulously wealthy antique collector, then when I
look at the photo look to be cobbled up from old portable phonos from
the 1950's with parts made up from hardware store plumbing fixtures and
detritus from well weathered furniture. This sort of nonsense makes me
wonder if I really do wish to get back into the hobby. It seems that a
lot of trash is being sold advertised as mint condition rarities. I am
begining to suspect that I should have hung onto my Victor VI! and the
Columbia Washington "A" , the AS and BS coin machines. I am begining to
suspect that I won't be replacing them anytime soon!
Oh well....you live and learn!
