Our local lockshop is one of those dark and dirty places that has been in
business for a long time. He can usually help me out with a key for such
things. Have you tried a local locksmith? New keys are still being made for
these locks.

Steve,
I tried using several barrel keys I've found around the house, even did some
cutting to make one fit into the hole. I could make it lock but had trouble
trying to unlock it. The lock casing might even be bad.
Let me first look around some flee markets that have lots of barrel keys for
sale. I'm looking for one that has a nice looking top or head to it. I took
the lock casing or housing ( what ever it's called) out of cabinet so I can
take with me to try other keys.
If I can't find any, I give you a holler.
Thanks,
keith

Hello David,
I thought about a locksmith in case I might need a new lock itself.
I'm going to several flee markets this weekend that have venders with keys.
I have a feeling the problem might be in the lock itself.
I can lock it but won't unlock. Have to push it down with my finger.
Luckily I took out the lock from the cabinet before playing with it.
The Herzog cabinet I have looks just like the one listed in " Antique
Phonograph, Accessories & Contraptions", Page 205, Picture 4-94 and 4-95.

I figured if I took the lock itself to the flee markets I could try hands-on
there if the key worked or not.
Thanks,
keith
