Was the original coated with amber (Orange) shellac? Or could they have
used a toning dye in the shellac?

Subject: [Phono-L] Mahogany Refinish

I am trying to clean up without completely refinishing a sheet music
cabinet. It is a dark red mahogany, much like the common Victrola color.
I had to plane/sand part of the top. Even using a mix of Minwax Red
Mahogany and Jacobean, I am no where near the darkness/intensity of the
original color. Any suggestions? Thanks.
