To use the Tung-stone needle you put it in the reproducer and play an old
unwanted record to shape it. You then do not move it until you replace it.

Subject: [Phono-L] Steel needles, Reproducer gaskets

Hi all
Wyatt's has some great stuff, but to be honest I can't get the Exhibitions to
close with their tubing, it is like it is too fat or something. APSCO's works
great, but I sense that it might not be as airtight? On the other hand, APSCO's
Exhibition gaskets suck farty air, but Wyatt's are primo.
I sense I have missed some of the postings, but I like Wyatt's needles. I
once had some APSCO needles and it was like the plating was bad. Maybe they
have a new supplier now. THe old Yesterday Once Again needles sucked, if I
remember, but so did many of their parts like the horrible needle bearings for
replacing Edison pot metal bearings. Noisy as hell. And their original oil
bronze bearings were a bit smaller than the hole in the casting, so the mandrel
shaft wasn't true.

Thanks, Ron for your thoughtful reply. I've bought the gaskets from
APSCO before. I'll call in an order tomorrow for more materials.
Thanks again
