Hi All, I just bought a Pathephone No.58 it is an internal horn bench top model disc machine (Sheraton type style inlay) with matching record cabinet. Does anyone know anything about this machine?
What year was it made? Where there Pathephone 57's, 56's etc....? Are they common? I've never seen or heard of another? Any other info would be much appreciated!!!! There are two holes in the bedplate for the belt to pass through to the the tiny pulley wheel below. To open the case, you would have to open the front door first, pull the belt off the tiny pulley, and then you could raise the bedplate. I'm amazed at how the reproducer travels across the record. The mandrel's supporting shaft on the belt end obviously contains a vertical worm gear. This turns the small gear on the bottom end of the vertical shaft, which then turns the two horizontal pulleys below the bedplate. They have another belt that pulls the reproducer across the record. Strange!
