unfortunately Aaron isn't around anymore to slap me down for what i'm  
about to say, but...

it's worth exactly what you're willing to pay for it.  if it's  
pristine and in the hands of a collector, well, sure it'll be  
expensive.  but if it's just a decent old record, in playable shape  
and a nice tune that you enjoy, just go with your gut.

but the best price for most of this lousy-sounding and boring early  
stuff is a quarter, when bought in bulk.  i've got (literally) tons  
of it, and believe me, after a play or three even a quarter is too  
much for some of them.

i usually say the value of any given old record is...exactly...one  
smile.
