Without seeing it before, it is hard to judge.  If it were really beat
up - rusty pitted metal, no shellac left on the cabinet etc. then why
not make it look like new.

I'm afraid this certainly over-restored machine has lost all the patina
and  
nostalgia of an original machine.  Nevertheless, there will always be
those  
who would pay a good price for a pretty machine.  Historical value and  
monetary price are two different things.
