In most cases I have found that BA cylinders that don't fit are out of
round. I learned this from members of the previous generation of collectors,
now
departed, and have found it to be good advice. Cramming the cylinder onto a
spare mandrel, they taught, would bring them around, so to speak. Every day,
push it down a little further until it's back in round and on the mandrel.
Reaming them will make them fit but leave them out of round and sounding
distorted. I do have one cylinder that actually seems to be swollen and I'm
tempted
to put sand paper back on my wooden reamer, which I now use as a form for out
of round cylinders, and ream it out, but I haven't done that yet.
