Yes, I am sure that some member of the list is busy right now, preparing a

wonderful thing about this hobby. There are so many great folks out there

their fellow collectors.

I hope so too. Hopefully the Rolfs. While realized prices are helpful, it's
the reports on the events (who attend, photos of other collectors, and the
items) that I find most interesting. Stanton usually published all realized
prices (I think) but the other details are only available from those who
attended. And this auction had special interest to nipper collectors.

and it's up to $57.17 already...that's more than I spent on the box o'78s I

If this is unique...and it seems that it is the only known copy...the sky's
the limit.

Wish me luck...I can use it.

I was at the auction. There was a lot of "auction fever" going on. There
were a few bidding wars. Thus, any realized prices should always be
viewed with caution! Anyone who receieved a catalog typically gets a
list of prices realized. Also, remember that with this auction, there
was a 10% buyer's premium, and 6% Michigan sales tax. The tax is on the
"hammer price" PLUS the buyer's premium, effectively raising the hammer
price by 16.6%. If someone shares a realized price list, I hope they
tell us if this is "hammer price" or if it includes the 10% buyer's
premium.

On a separate note, before the auction I was fortunate enough to talk
with Peter Dilg about the Zonophone Eclipse. He has the only other
complete example that we know of. Anyone that has information about this
machine, please contact me through the list or at [email protected]

Thanks,
Jeff

Thanks for report Jeff. It's the only posted on any of the newsgroups so far.

How many folks would you say were there? REcognize any other bidders? It
would be fun to hear about this one as it had both machines and Nipper
material.

Thanks for sharing.

It's great to get good deals at auctions like this but with such wide
advertising there's always competition. Often it's "he who has the most toys
wins"
which - of course ends up as a auction of the estate of the "guy" (USUALLY,
but not always) with the most toys - when his family only wants the money -
and the room all this stuff took up back. <g>

Subject: [Phono-L] Excellent Victor Repro Elbows Now Available
Message-ID: <[email protected]>

Hi All
I was gonna write this note to Tim Fabrizio, but I thought I would seek a
wider audience for these plaudits!
I ordered a Victor exact repro elbow from him for my Vic IV. Having only seen
the two crappy aluminum repros over the last few decades, I was intrigued,l
though still a bit doubtful.
  I doubt no more.
I received the elbow today, and if I didn't know it was a repro I would not
have guessed. It is nickel plated brass, and is exactly like the original. No
thick clunky metal elbow here. My aluminum elbow was somewhat better than the
old aluminum castings, but still when I put it on the horn, and put the horn on
the machine, the horn wobbled and when I would try to turn it in the casting,
the elbow would fall out.
I put the horn into the new elbow, wow, a tight fit!!! I put the elbow into the
casting and secured it, and I was able to move the horn back and forth almost
effortlessly!
I wholeheartedly recommend this elbow, which at the bargain price of $75 will
do a wonderful job til you find an original, if that is still your desire after
seeing this one! I will post pics soon. Thanks Tim!!
