The motor runs fine. I would like to know if anyone has anything similar. Pictures will do fine. There is still something missing from the top works and from the connection of the coin drop to the release mechanism at the governor. Pictures of these two areas of the machine would be greatly appreciated. The reproducer says "Topofox". So I guess this makes it a no-name machine. I can construct samething similar if I only knew what it was supposed to look like. Thanks in advance, ---Art Heller ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Available as table top as well as floor standing. Not to mention the coin ops that were disguised as beer barrels (hymnophone) or a windmill. Symphonion (of music box fame) also made some floor standing models with huge coiled horns. The coin ops were either half or fully automatic, or somewhere inbetween. Half automats where the coin started the motor and a person had to place the reproducer on the disk, and the fully automatics all was needed was the coin to activate and the phono did the rest. And in the middle was a type where a person put the reproducer on the record but the machine automatically lifted it off at the end of the record. Here is a pic of a popular parlophone model http://www.romfi.com/category.cfm?Category=8%21A%5D%23X%3C8DPWL%2FR%3C%28%27%3D%5FT%2C%5F1RLM0%3EJ%2B%2CH7%0A&CFID=43787&CFTOKEN=65440570&review=%21%23L%3F%22%0A and here a small manufacturer from 1910 with a catalog of 10 models, 3 of which are coin ops http://www.romfi.com/category.cfm?Category=4%21A%5D%23X%3C8DPWX%2FSL%24%2D8%5E4%28%5EABGJPI%2E%0A&CFID=43787&CFTOKEN=65440570 regards Rob On 7/8/07, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: > > Hi, Art----- I've seen a lot of these in my travels, please send me the > images directly and I'll help you if I can. It apparently is partly "automatic" where the coin starts the record and the arm shuts the turntable off and lifts the tonearm. But then one has to push down on the gimmick under the tonearm and replace the needle on the record manually before putting another coin in. Very primitive. Too bad the picture doesn't show the mechanism better. I remember one being sold on eBay a year or so ago. I think it was fully automatic. ---Art ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. It didn't take long for the publicity to have an impact: this compilation of 1890s brown wax recordings of obscene songs and limericks is now ranked #1 in comedy recordings on Amazon, and #44 in CDs of every category. It's way ahead of some of the biggest names in the recording industry. It goes to show that no matter what the era, sex sells. But this is potentially a FANTASTIC plus for our hobby. Just think of all the people out there who know nothing about early recordings, who are going to discover cylinder phonographs by way of this amazing CD. I'd wager that many buyers will be intrigued enough to check out some of Archeophone's other compilations and some may eventually find their way over to original records and phonographs. Not only did the Brits have Lucas Fridges, but I once had a T-Shirt procalaiming Lucas as "The Prince of Darkness" . Later in life I bought a Triumph TR-8, which I thought was the ultimate car. It was lightweight, had an American based V-8. Sounds like a 1980's Carroll Shelby at work, similar to the the famed Sunbeam Tiger? WRONG!!! That car was certainly not on my Top-10 list. Sorry, folks, but I am sticking with my vintage American iron (and fiberglass) 1966 Corvette for now. I moved to Florida in 1973 fresh out of high school in a "REAL" 1967 Shelby Mustang GT-350. This was not one of today's "Resto-Mods", not a "Tribute", not an "Eleanor", but the real deal. If only............... Hope everyone had a great "4th", Joe Filer > > From: "Jeffry Young, D.O." <[email protected]> > Date: 2007/07/08 Sun PM 07:58:06 EST > To: "Antique Phonograph List" <[email protected]> > Subject: RE: [Phono-L] OT-vintage car > > The Brit car enthusiasts will like this one!
