Here is the owners response to my polite heads up.

I am not sure what you mean by a "heads up." Assuming you are right, which I am
fine with since I don't know what it is, are you suggesting that I have
misrepresented the piece? The description clearly states that I do not know and
am only going on fragments of information from similar items, so I hope that is
clear to all. I mean, when I honestly say I have limited knowledge and it may
or may not be what I have found in an amateur search, I'm not sure what sort of
heads up I need about it. Bidding seems very strong so far, so all I can say is
that you must know something that neither I nor others seem so know. If any
cobbling was done, it sure looks to me that it would have been done in the
early twentieth century, and I have a very good knowledge of what recently
screwed with antiques look like. The cabinet seems very clean, but it also has
tell-tale signs of age in the right spots. I appreciate the opinion and I
certainly hope that you will NOT bid given your view, and I w
ill save this email to that effect just in case. Defintely no offense taken
for asking what you thought about the piece--that would be silly. I have no
reason to doubt your expertise. Anyway, we'll see what the "crapophone" does, I
guess. I'm happy to help with any specific questions you or other have in the
meantime.
