I was wondering about that too, I have an orthophonic reproducer that I bought
for my 4-40, and it is undamaged and easy to rebuild. When I opened it, I
noticed that the gaskets were very thin and paperlike.

Hello Al,

The original looks like paper coated with shellac to me.  I have spoken to
people who rebuild them and they tell me you get better sound from neoprene.  I
would assume Ron Sitko is selling them.
