A lot of different dealer aids were made by various companies, and Victor would typically offer them to the dealers at cost. There was a Nipper and Gramophone combination on a base that was offered in the 1920s (as seen in the illustration in the auction). The Gramophone being offered in this auction looks like the one from this set, however the Nipper does not appear to be from this set. The set's Nipper has much more detail, especially in the ears. The one in the auction also appears to be slightly larger than the one that came with the set. The seller indicates that the Gramophone is made of wood, but it is actually some sort of plaster. The horn, crank and arm support are metal. The missing base is also plaster and the whole thing together is quite heavy. I have attached a photo of the whole thing, and if everything works properly, you should be able to click a link to see the photo. Thanks. That explains the cobbled look of the thing. And I found it in Rolfs' book of Nipper Collectibles. ---Art Heller _______________________________________________ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.oldcrank.org
