I like a bushing over a needle bearing and I doubt the shaft is hard enough
to use a needle bearing. OTOH it may take a couple of lifetimes for it to
manifest itself. If the bushing overhangs it can be trimmed. As well most
bushings are oil impregnated. Over time the grease in the needle could be
problematic. The bushing MAY prove to be quieter as well

It may be of interest, if you take a flame to an olilite bushing you will
amazed at the amount of oil it releases. More than a Lay's potato
chip...<grin>
