I have always felt that a properly sized sleeve bearing was much quieter than 
the needle type.  Nickel plating the bronze bearing sounds like a good idea! I 
think they look more original than the brass hanging out the end.

Hello, Back in 1984 when I replaced the pot metal bearing on my standard only 
the roller bearing was available and I got rid of that machine over ten years 
ago.  I have an Oilite on my triumph that I had nickel plated because I do not 
like the brass look. How do the oilite bearings compare with the roller 
bearings? Steve
