I'm going with home made by a good machinist to rescue a part that at one
time was not replaceable.

Subject: [Phono-L] Very Unusual Exhibition Flange/Shell

Hello all
Here is a very unusual item - it is an Exhibition reproducer back flange,
but it is in a brass shell.  I first thought it was an a brass flange that
someone had made, but when I removed it from the reproducer, I found that
the brass portion was only a shell with the rubber flange inside of it. This
is a great way to keep an old flange from warping, I guess...has anyone ever
seen this before? The rubber flange was old, but it seems as if it may be a
hair thinner than a regular Exhibition flange. The brass shell is about .050
inches thick at the sides and perhaps .139 inches thick on the top surface.
Here is a link to some photos:

Any ideas as to if this is a custom job or an aftermarket item?? It seems
very precisely made to be a home job.
Thanks
John Robles
