The Outreach Committee of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC) posts the following message.
--- 2015 ARSC CONFERENCE: CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS --- Proposal deadline: January 5, 2015 The Association for Recorded Sound Collections invites proposals for presentations at its 49th annual conference, to be held May 27-30, 2015, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. ARSC welcomes papers on the preservation and study of sound recordings -- in all genres of music and speech, in all formats, and from all periods. We seek papers and panels that are informative, display a passion for their subjects, and include compelling audio and visual content. Is there an artist, label, or other aspect of the industry you've been working on? Preservation, archives management, or research technique that might be of interest to others? Share your special interests with our engaged community of collectors, historians, musicians, preservationists, and archivists. Since Pittsburgh's history is rich with regard to influential musicians, singers, and songwriters across multiple genres, especially jazz, we encourage presentations focusing on these subjects, as well as recording and music-making in Appalachia, neighboring regions, and urban areas, including Cleveland, Columbus, and Detroit. The deadline for presentation proposals is January 5, 2015. Receipt will be acknowledged by e-mail. Presenters will be notified of acceptance approximately one month thereafter. For more information and the Call for Presentations form, visit: http://www.arsc-audio.org/conference/2015/index.html Questions about the Call for Presentations should be directed to Cary Ginell, ARSC Program Chair, at [email protected] The Association for Recorded Sound Collections is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and study of sound recordings -- in all genres of music and speech, in all formats, and from all periods. ARSC is unique in bringing together private individuals and institutional professionals -- everyone with a serious interest in recorded sound. ---- _______________________________________________ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.org
