Chances are you edited the wrong php.ini or set it incorrectly. verify with phpinfo() and read the docs. This works for everyone else. Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2009-12-11 05:40:08] devajyothi2000 at yahoo dot com Description: ------------ Dear Friends, In order to test PHP after installing PHP 5.3.1 on RHEL 4 with Apache 2.2.14. This was the error received:- Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. I edited php.ini file and entered the necessary TimeZone against date.timezone. After restarting Apache the problem persists. I searched for solutions but to no avail. I was reluctant to apply snaps as didn't want to disturb the present setting of the server. Please note that there is no other instance of PHP running on the server.
