Chances are you edited the wrong php.ini or set it incorrectly. verify

with phpinfo() and read the docs. This works for everyone else.

Description:
------------
Dear Friends,

In order to test PHP after installing PHP 5.3.1 on RHEL 4 with
Apache 2.2.14. This was the error received:-

Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the
system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the
date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In
case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this
warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier.

I edited php.ini file and entered the necessary TimeZone against
date.timezone. After restarting Apache the problem persists.

I searched for solutions but to no avail. I was reluctant to apply
snaps as didn't want to disturb the present setting of the server.
Please note that there is no other instance of PHP running on the
server.

Regards,
D.J.Singh
