This reminds me. I'm working on implementing the current gd+freetype functionality on Mac OS X with a CoreGraphics+ATSUI+QuickTime backend. It will have a new, more pleasant API exposed to the PHP user -- frankly, we've dragged the 8-bit gd baggage on the API side for long enough. The question is this: should we take a good, long look at the GD API as well, now that we aren't tied to a third party library? Could we even have a new, unified set of graphics functions with different backends on different platforms? Also, Stig: as I stated in the 4.2.0 release note, 4.3.0 will be the first fully supported version of PHP on Mac OS X. I have still some things left to do -- I need to fix phpize to produce MH_BUNDLEs and implement support for an autoload extension (or 'plugin') directory on OS X, so that GUI-bound users can drag-n-drop PHP plugins to /System/Library/PHP/Plugins and gain functionality automatically. ETA for landing on the tree is four weeks. --Marko -- PHP Development Mailing List <http://www.php.net/> To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
