This is what I thought too. I'm not sure what these fixes are, but it's quite possible that it didn't really work too well in 64-bit systems for years as you and I thought, in which case it's quite alright to wait. I'm not saying we *should* wait, I'm saying it's a possibility, depending on how far-reaching they are.
