Sebastian Nohn is the one that has noticed most of the 64 bits related bugs I was 
refering to.
I am sure he can give you more information of these bugs.
It seems it was working fine just a few months ago.
I experience some of them on SPARC64, not all.
Sebastian is working on Tru64 though, different architecture.
 
And it seems these fixes are type related indeed and also I believe they were pretty 
much all fixed in CVS, it wouldn't be too hard to backport it to 4.2 branch in my 
opinion.
However, it's not my decision to make and I agree with Zeev for everything else, I 
don't have any other objections for 4.2.3 whatsoever.

        This is what I thought too.  I'm not sure what these fixes are, but it's
        quite possible that it didn't really work too well in 64-bit systems for
        years as you and I thought, in which case it's quite alright to wait.  I'm
        not saying we *should* wait, I'm saying it's a possibility, depending on
        how far-reaching they are.
