Only extensions beein enabled by default will be widely used.
You all here are to determined on what you personally want
and want to everybody do the same. But most people cannot
select any option in their php installation since they depend
on what option their hosters enable or not. AND hosters will
NOT enable anything not beeing default. So i fear if we move
all extensions to PECL php becomes useless. But do what
ever you want.
