Hi there, For the probably larger portion of you that don't know me yet, my name is Marc Alexander and I currently live in a small town right next to Munich, Germany. The first open source project I started out with is phpBB. In recent years, I've become more and more involved in phpBB and I'm currently both lead developer as well as the project representative in the FIG for it. My contributions to phpBB range from back-end features like password hashing or file uploading to front-end features employing JS / jQuery or just plain old HTML & CSS. As day job I currently work at a small startup company in the south of Munich during which time I mostly use the slightly stricter C++ programming language and Qt.
I would describe myself as an open-minded and solution-oriented person. As a result of that, I always pay attention arguments and also try to keep discussions as open as possible. I did previously sponsor PSR 13 but apart from that I have not contributed as much as I would've liked. While working on phpBB and transitioning its codebase to use more standardized interfaces, coding styles, etc. I've also noticed how important the FIG is and how it can improve the PHP community at large. That is one of the many reasons why I want to contribute to the FIG with myself as a person and my knowledge in both PHP and non-PHP areas while also looking forward to learning about new ideas or possible new standards for common issues or design choices. One of my goals is to further improve upon the previous accomplishments of the FIG and let people see the FIG as a reliable, high-quality, and easy to use source of standards for the PHP ecosystem. All of this not just to have standards for the sake of standards but rather to have standards that enjoy real world use and can be quickly adapted to.
