Apache 2.0 implements multithreading, while the 1.x versions were forking processes. While this might increase the overall speed of the webserver, all (and I mean ALL) used extensions, end extensions for these extensions, must be written in a thread-safe way. While the PHP core group as to my knowledge has already implemented PHP (4.3.0 that is) in a thread-safe way, most of PHP extension modules are not (yet?) thread safe. Might get you into a core dump I suppose... -- >O Ernest E.
