I purchased a few php books and was sorely disappointed. I found that the online documentation and this php list were the best resources for php. You'll find that pretty much any book on php will be outdated by the time it hits the shelves, and with php 5 coming out in the near future (I hope) it is going to change even more. You're best bet is to take the time to read the manual (if you haven't already) and follow this list, you'll soon find that php's resources are very well organized.
