To me, preferable -- one copy, the list one, goes into my list folder to be filed away, and the other stays in my inbox so I see discussions I'm participating in without having to read all of the traffic.
Preferable for me, also. I have messages sent directly to me colored differently from the ones on the list, so I can keep track of threads I've replied in or threads that have been taken off list (so they don't get lost in the rest of the traffic).
Ummm, and they all have PHP in the subject...
