You have a point.  Though I don't think it's worth much consideration.

The overhead of having to maintain two code bases to do validation isn't
worth the benefit... at least to me.

Plus, the notion of using Java'sCrap to validate forms leads too many
webslackers... er I mean webmasters... to code their forms so they can
only be sumitted if JS is turned on.
