  Hi there,

  Just a question,

Have you actually run phpinfo() to see if your vendor supplied PHP rpms
come with gd support or not??? On my SuSe 8.1, phpinfo() contains the
  following bits about gd:

  __gd__
  GD Support enabled
  GD Version 1.6.2 or higher
  FreeType Support enabled
  FreeType Linkage with freetype
  T1Lib Support enabled
  JPG Support enabled
  PNG Support enabled
  WBMP Support enabled

Chances are that you already have what you are looking for.
