Tables are in league with the devil and aid terrorists.

At least they are if you believe what some people say.

IMNSHO, tables are fine if used in the right place.

We had frames for a long while, and they were great. You could do lots of
fun stuff with them (even more now since we have xmlhttprequest). But the
search engines decided it was all to difficult for them and they refused to
rate pages using frames, so they went out.

So we used tables for layout since there wasn't much choice at the time.

Now we have floating divs and all the new, hip and groovy stuff like that
which means that we can produce liquid layouts, allowing layout to flow and
fit browsers of almost any size.

Tables are ideal for tabular data, e.g. dumping database data, but now there
are better ways to lay out the page itself, which is why tables are not
recommended for layout now.
