I'm hosting site on Yahoo and it used PHP. I wanted to use the
Favicon feature to put our icon in the address box and favorites list.
I have the code in there and have the favicon.ico file in the root
directory of the server.

When I enter my website address with the "www" the icon does not show
up. When I enter the sitename without the WWW it works fine. What am
I doing wrong?

Hi Jeff,
I am using Windows 98SE (don't laugh lol) and IE 6.00.2800.11.6
and it did not work on either the domain or www.domain on my first page
open.

I then dragged the default icon (shortcut in IE) onto the page (causes page
reload to the shortcut properties) and the icon loaded with the refreshed
page so it is doesn't seem to be a cache problem.

In an earlier post, I thought I saw that you were using meta tags to cause
the icon to load.

Someone please correct me if the following is wrong as I am not clear on
this.

Some browsers/versions can be forced to look for the fav.ico by using meta
tags, HOWEVER some browsers will do a directory scan of the home directory
to see if it exist and loads it if it is in the directory listing.

For the browser to do a 'directory' scan, the HTTP: ROOT folder must have
the permission's '777' to allow a directory listing.

I hope this helps, Rob M.
