Well, not quite. Use phpMyAdmin to create tables, and let it put them
where it wants to. On most shared servers, there is one area for the
databases for all users, and so, you don't get direct access to it,
because you could read / damage other peoples data, and they could do
the same to you.
When you have your tables set up in your database, you just need the
username, password, and database name, put them into PHP, and PHP will
figure out where they are.

to see what I mean.
But you don't need MySQL (or PHP for that matter) on your first page.
