Thank you for your reply however, the mentioned search box does not appear
anywhere in our browser. So, Derek it is a little difficult to simply enter
the search term and press enter. In fact the entire layout of the site is
pretty screwed up and it takes forever to load a single page. We are also
constantly receiving an unresponsive script error message (interestingly
referencing /js/search.js) I.E.:
Which version of IE are you using? It works fine for me in IE8 - 10. We
have had some complaints, similar to this, about older versions of IE
breaking on Windows XP, but none that I could reproduce in IE8 through 10
on Windows 7. There has also been a recent update for this, so you may want
to clear your browser cache and try again, if you haven't done so already.
Ral - the white bar below the header is actually the search bar. You get the
same on 'small display' devices. That is on IE7 ... at least
Sherif - The fix for the script error has not been rolled out to the mirrors
properly Certainly UK1 and UK3 both give problems still, but if I can keep it
using the base domain, then yes it is fixed there.
IE7 layout is crude to say the least but if one is used to a 'responsive'
display style, then it is usable. Simply everything is stacked up vertically, so
the right hand modules appear at the bottom. ( Other domains are even worse! )
Just to complete the picture here. XP is limited to IE7 and will not install
later versions of IE. A large number of my public area customers, councils and
the like, are only just moving from XP despite the cost of a move. The site I
was repairing my Apache/PHP setup this morning will be moving to W7 over the
next few months - cash flow permitting!
