Now I had a closer look at the "pagetools". They are invisible in IE 8
because of the CSS. They are positioned absolutely to the right of
#dokuwiki__site .wrapper, but this div uses the full available viewport
width on IE 8.
So false alarm with regard to jQuery 2.1.1. Sorry.
