Hello everyone john here, I am currently trying to create a web site -
that sells stuff but more in an online classifieds fashion.
You know like - for a fee, I would allow members to host their
specific items for a determined time etc....
I have designed simple web sites using dream weaver, some Html
coding, and incorporating style sheets, and some java.
I am not an expert, thus I am looking to use the osCommerce store to
help me create a PHP and MySQL integrated website.
I don't know PHP and MySQL yet and I am confused on how to edit the
website while in development on my windows machine.
1)
Do I need to have my website on a different machine during
development or can I run the PHP and MySQL directly on my windows
machine while I am creating it?
(You know create and view the page on your own machine before
uploading to your server)
2)
Another problem is I have windows XP - do I need to get NT for this
to work?
3)
Should I just learn how to use PHP and MySQL right off the bat
instead of trying to change the osCommerce store?
4)
Can I have multiple client accounts - using password protection and
then giving them the option to create, update, and delete their items
information and specs on osCommerce store database?
5)
Will osCommerce even work for my desired online classifieds situation?

This has been an idea for 3 or so months and I really want to bring
it to life.
