It sounds as though you think that phpMyAdmin is what you need to run
PHP programs.  It isn't.  phpMyAdmin is a tool to view MySQL databases,
and you need PHP running to make it work.

Assuming that you are using a Windows computer, go to 
http://www.wampserver.com/en/
and download and install wamp.  It's free.
