after installing apache, PHP, and MySql (manually) you should edit the
httpd.conf ( apache configuration ) and php.ini ( PHP configuration ) to
fit your need. you can googling it according to your operating system.

or you can install xampp ( http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html )
to make life easier :). it installs all component you need to start
"having fun" with php automatically. much more easier right ;)
