This stuff is like black magic to me. I can sort of follow what it does,
but I'd be afraid to touch it. It would be cool if it could be made
faster, and for the new site layout we are going to have to hack away at
the dsssl stuff anyway, so it would be a good time to see if there is a
faster method.
