If livedocs have any problems with that then we can code the needed stuff into it :) Sooner or later :)
Just one question: will livedocs ever goes live?
Nobody is working on it.... I and Medhi have commited a couple of patches but there were no significant changes yet. And without the promised website for the documentation team.....
There are about 450 cvs accounts for the team, but nobody is changing/improcing the manual.... where is everybody?...
It is hard to convince someone to work on documentation stuff, since it has not that good reputation as coding extensions. Everyone needs to live from something. Mehdi was fired probably partly because of the fact that he worked a lot with us in daytime. Other past contributors try to make a living from their work, and try to manage their family life. I am 'furtunate' to still being in university and not having a girlfriend, so I can devote my free time to several OS projects, including PHP.net projects. More ofthen than not I think that I am not that fortunate to not have a girlfriend but that is another story...
I have been part of the core organization team of the Second Hungarian PHP Conference, with which we still have some followup tasks to do. There were nearly five hundred attendees and a lot of sponsors to make the seventeen sessions free for all. Our renewed nonprofit Hungarian webmastering site launched just one week before the conference, so we had a lot of work to do. Now the things get normal around these two things, so I have more time to devote to the PHP project, and other OS projects.
Given the huge tasks around documenting new PHP 5 features, changes, moving PECL docs into phpdoc, etc. more people is always needed. I will give a talk on our documentation infrastructure, and livedocs in Amsterdam, so we can hopefully attract more people to get involved in enhancing livedocs, and we can finally step forward. I myself have just reinstalled my machine a week ago. My previous setup made libxml2 choke on the livedocs index generator, if run after Mozilla started. Now these errors are hopefully fixed with a completely new Mozilla and libxml2 all installed from packages, and not compiled separately.
